    1985 R80 won't down shift unless I blip the throttle

    Starting last season my 85 R80 won't down shift unless I blip the throttle. I'm the original owner and have never experienced this before. Anyone know why? Thanks.

    I have a 78 R100/7 and was having the same problem. You need to have your splines lubed. You have to back the transmission out to get to the splines in question. There is probably a link in the forum for the procedure or you can contact your favorite Beemer wrench. Should clear it up.

    My RS was shifting rough & hard to find neutral, etc. A spline lube made a world of difference. Be sure you clutch is adjusted properly, too:
