Inner tube installation

Welcome to the forum! This is an old thread, but probably something that needs reminding once in a while. Thanks for the blast from the past! :thumb

Thanks for the welcome!
I picked up an "84" R100RT recently. For the most part, it is in very good condition. All original. Bought it from the second owner who only owned it since March of this year. He never titled it. He only rode it around the block a few times. 38,000 on the clock.
I have nearly completed a full service so as to have a base line on which to schedule future services.
While I had the wheels off to service the bearings, I decided to have the rims powder coated. As I haven't dealt with tube type tires for many years, I studied up on the procedure before reassembly. I didn't have any "talcum powder" but I do have some "Monkey Butt" powder so that's what I used! The person who last put tires on this bike put the nut on top of the cup washer, inside the rim. The second nut, was synched up fairly tight on the outside. I found the article that I posted above^^^and went with that.
Now...if I can just get that Turkey to stop clucking! :)
