i'm looking for an enclosed trailer for my 2005 R1200RT to rent this july 2013,from Connecticut to the rally in Oregon.can anybody help me out there? Tom T.

You check U-Haul? They have about three small enclosed versions. I know they have an open motorcycle specific style as well. Not sure what floor tie downs are available in the enclosed units.

Cheaper to ship it to the BMW dealer and fly out. Why waste several days towing it x-country?
Uhaul will tell you the day before if they have a trailer and where to pick it up. A bit late to change plans if not available where you want it.

While I realize you are looking to trailer your bike to the Rally, I can recommend that when you find a trailer to rent, try a trip with it loaded. As you didn't mention your tow vehicle, whether it had a 2" receiver hitch on it and the wiring for lights, I'd hate to see you surprised when you leave the driveway. OM

Don't know where you are, but didn't I see there's an AMTRAK train going West? And was it suggested you can take your bike along, too?

Why drive when you can relax and see the countryside in comfort, not to mention doing something you've possibly not done before? I imagine it'd be about a wash, cost-wise, and possibly time-wise as well- between the option of renting a trailer & driving both ways with motels etc.- V the hopping on the Rally Train.

Just a suggestion.

EDIT: Apparently NO you CANNOT take your bike on the train. STILL sounds like fun tho.
