trying to identify a mystery frame.

So I bought a big pile of parts. Included in the pile, was a R class frame. I'm trying to find out what model and year the frame is. The problem is, there's no VIN on the frame, and the little plate is missing.

I took pictures, can anyone help me ID this? I -think- it's a mid 70s r90 frame, but I can't be sure.

here's the other one.

Mid 70s r90 frame would have VIN stamped on right side near steering head on flat spot. (At least my 74 r90/6 does)

Fwiw

Back off a bit, get an overall picture. Mainframe seems to have the down tubes tweeked inboard. wonder why? OOps, my mistake, must be the wide angle lens.

the 1977 has the same second stiffener. and, if I understand correctly, later models had the VIN stamped in the frame. That's the problem with this frame. There's no VIN stamped on it, anywhere. And it's in pristine condition.

Other oddities include 'made in W. Germany' stamped on on of the neck stiffening slats, near (close to, but not in the same spot as) where the VIN should normally be stamped.

Could this be a factory replacement frame?
