K75 Electric Vest Cable Gerbings

MICHIGANMIKE

Besides Powerlet, is there a supplier for the basic new style round connectors for cables for electric vest controls? I want to build a couple cables that will have standard cigarette type plugs and the round female connector on the opposite end? Hope that is clear enough. Not sure what you call that connector, "Coax" maybe?:type

Shipping costs!!!!

Gerbings has a part I could cut in half and make what I want, they charge $9.95 and here is the kicker, $12 to UPS it when it would only cost about $1.80 to mail it first class.
That is why I want to find the simple end fitting and some cord.:type

I doubt you'll find the connector you want in a version that is compatible with being attached to bulk cord. All I have ever seen are of the factory molded to the cord variety (more weather resistant if you ask me). If you spend over $50 at Motorcycle Superstore, you get free shipping. I have no interest in Motorcycle Superstore just passing on some info.

DIY is the way to go, IMO

As I used to live in Hawaii I really got my fill of expensive Priority Mail shipping when anything 13oz. or less could just as easily, quickly and securely gone via First Class packet for a couple of bucks. One of my pet peeves which I'll rant about another time.

You could easily make up some SAE connectors with some zip cord or speaker wire for your gear; check out some of the auto stores for the connectors or perhaps use cigarette lighter plugs and sockets from Radio Shack? Those wouldn't be so robust in inclement weather but you might find other types to use when you're there. Banana plugs might be a better option, come to think of it.

All you are doing is making a simple connection in a two-wire circuit and chances are you can get by fine with screw-type connections (unless you have a small soldering iron handy).
