Heated grips - ouch!

Moose Racing, about $25 and some zip ties. They're foam material. Biggest honking wind protection I've ever seen.

My RT has excellent wind protection for my hands. It's only in really cold weather that I can run my grips for very long. Usually for 20 minutes on, 10 off. Never got burned, but it's just too warm to leave them on for any significant period of time.

I believe the manuals for our G650GS and R1200GS state the high setting on the heated grips should only be used briefly, to warm the grips , and then the setting should be reduced to the low position for the duration of the ride.

I ran mine in the low and off positions 85-90% off the time. I ran them in the high position for only limited durations.

I suppose this is like the old "frog in the pan of water" story, right?

Drop a frog in a pan of boiling water, and he'll jump right out.

Drop a frog in a pan of cold water, turn on the burner, and he'll allow himself to be cooked.

I hope your hands heal up and you have no lasting effects from this incident.
