    Pivot Bearing Wear - R1100RT

When I was ready to install the final drive in the never ending saga of my first spline lube I noticed indentations on the right hand side pivot bearing.

The indentations are from the roller bearing and can be felt with my fingers.
Initially the roller bearing did not spin free but cleaning it with oil solved that problem.

Should the pivot and/or the bearing be replaced?

the bearings (and, if left long enough) and the pivot pins, should be considered wear replacement items. you can get many 10s of thousands of miles out of them if checked/adjusted at very tire change, but most commonly they only last about 20-30K.
    change them.

    Thanks, I'll order the parts.
    Another week of riding lost.

btw- you are looking at the outer bearing race there, not the face of the pivot pin.
if it will take a week to get the new parts, and you really want to ride, there's no reason at all to not put it back together for now, get some ridin' in, then pull it apart when your new parts arrive.
