1983 R100RS Speedo Issue

Following online instructions, I repaired my Motometer odometer. Now, the speedometer needle reacts to speed changes very slowly. It seems to be accurate (well, as accurate as a Motometer speedo can be) but it moves in slow motion. What could I have done to cause this when I was in there to repair the odo? BTW, I lubed the cable at that time.
TIA for your ideas.

Modern cables do not need lubrication as they are teflon lined.

Might be time for a new cable.

Humm. Good point. I never lube the throttle or clutch cables, but somehow I dropped the ball when it came to the speedo cable. My bad. I'll look for a new one. I guess after 29 years, she merits some cable love.
