Kansas City BBQ.........

Alright lets get to the real reason that some of us are coming to Mo. Here's one for the locals or those in the know. I'm looking for the best BBQ, KC or locally closer to Sedalia. I'm not opposed to riding but local or the surroundings area would work.

Been to Jack Stacks in KC and had the Beef Ribs, came away kind of disappointed. While they had great flavor in my opinion they were to dry. Now I know it could of been a fluke and I should give them another chance. Since there are only 2-3 day's available I'd like to cut thru the chase and score the big one right away.

I'd really like to try some awesome burnt ends, brisket and pork ribs.

Thoughts, Opinions or Suggestions?

You buyin Chuck?

I saw the 2 BBQ joints listed for Sedalia and will probably give them a shot.

Geez right across the street from the main gate. Exactly where I believe I might be spending a substantial amount of time. :):):)

Anyone interested in working the gates, that's an added incentive if I ever heard one. Our own Rally Chair gives it a thumbs up. Sweet. :thumb:thumb:thumb

Huh I wonder if I can get my golf cart across Hwy. 65 safely? :scratch:scratch:scratch

If you feel like a ride 17th street grill in murphysborough, il would be an easy lunch ride and will be better than pretty much anything. You can do garden of the gods and a few other sites and then come home!

More info needed. Spell check or State would help.........

Thanks,

I can help with this question.

These are in KC.

Arthur Bryant's, the original place. The others not so much. http://www.arthurbryantsbbq.com/index.htm

BB Lawnside. They have a smoked catfish that is great! They also have Blues. http://bbslawnsidebbq.com/

Oklahoma Joe's (in Kansas) according Anthony Bourdain it is one of the 13 places to eat before you die. He said "It's the best barbecue in Kansas City, which makes it the best barbecue in the world." http://www.oklahomajoesbbq.com/

Gates BBQ in KC it very good it is a chain. They have a hot BBQ sauce that is my favorite. http://www.gatesbbq.com/

Rosedale BBQ has wonderful ribs. http://www.rosedalebarbeque.com/index.php

In Excelsior Springs there is the Wabash that is very good. http://www.wabashbbq.com/

That should get you started on a BBQ quest. :)

awesome location list ajayhawkfan...thank you.

Im surprised that an outfit like Arthur Bryants doesnt take advantage of 8000 BMW folk and didnt rent a barn on the grounds and sell BBQ all week.

Do you think the food committee tried to get any of these restaurants to show up ?

Idea from future volunteer here is to get the local restaurant cuisine well represented in the midway as opposed to the carnival trailers Ive seen in the past. Sort of like "Taste of Chicago" or Taste of Cincinnati or Taste of Charlotte. Something to think about.

I'm from out of town..........

When out of town guests come to KC I take them to original Arthur Bryant's. It is traditional BBQ joint.

Actually arriving on the the 14th. so that we will have a couple of days before getting into the work/volunteer thing. Will ride into KC on Sunday so I'll be coming from "Out of Town". Where we going?

Seriously I was thinking Arthur Bryants on Sunday and then maybe sticking close to Sedalia from Monday on. I see they open Sunday at 11am which is good as I'm sure it's going to be a hot one later that afternoon.

Look me up at the Rally, I love putting a face to fellow Forumites. I'll be working the gates and can always use the company.

Thanks for the info so far.

I was just there working on the all-star game....had only one night to have a decent meal and we went to Jacks....mega yummy.

Friends have suggested Gates BBQ as well. I might be up for a ride over there for dinner or something.

Open at the Rally

Wait until you taste the BBQ from the Smoke House including outstanding brisket; pulled pork and hand cut chops from The Pork Place; and hand cut prime steaks from Cattleman's. All of these air conditioned restaurants are on the Fairgrounds and open during the rally.

I have a feeling I'm going to need to add a click or two of rear preload coming home from the rally. :eat

It's all adding up to be a Great Rally.......

Sounds like we won't have to go to far for a great meal in air conditioned comfort no less. I've been looking forward to the Rally, and now even more so. :thumb:thumb:thumb
