1200C side car?

Greetings all

I have a challenge. My wife and I drive 1200C's, and although she loves her bike, she is still intimidated by the weight and bulk. She is determined to keep riding it, but she now thinks that a sidecar would be the perfect solution.

Unfortunately, I live in Minnesota, far from the sidecar sources I have been able to find, and I would just as soon just hire this project out and have an expert do the work.

Any suggestions? Appreciate any and all advice!

Thanks!

Can whoever sent this to my email please reply on this thread? I've been trying to send you emails, but they keep bouncing.

"Our Sidecars
We have worked extensively with Cozy and Silverline Marketing over the years to bring the Cozy up to modern day standards and the results are stunning. These are beautiful, all steel (yet light) sidecars that sell for a very modest price. They are by far the best value in the sidecar market today.

hows this project coming? I want to "someday " make a 1200c with side car.. I saw a few at the national rally that got me inspired... I hope my next wife understand the practicality of 3 bikes in the garage and two cars in the drive.....lol

Some of us here have 'em too...

"Driving" a sidecar rig will require a lot more arm action than riding a solo bike. It can become quite an exercise on longer trips. Be aware of that. Actually, your wife should be aware of that. Make sure, she has a chnace to test drive a rig before you go all out and hack the C.

It's a different dynamic, yes... But... Depending on the set up it can be quite effortless.
I can steer mine w/ two fingers at highway speeds thanks to the gentleman i bought it from and DMC's (Dauntless) hardware.
I wouldn't test ride... I'd take the sidecar class. You'll know by the end if side cars are for you.
You may want to pick up Dave's Yellow Book. A Side Carists Bible.

Holding a rig straight on the highway can be done with two fingers. Turning it on the road from left to right can not.
But I know this only from hear-say. I have no experience myself...

Yeah. Well... Until you do... :brow

Of my three bikes I ride them in this order in terms of miles:

RT : 70%
R 1200 C: 20%
Ducati: 10%

If I was interested in investigating the addition of a side car to the C, where would you recommend I commence my investigation and study?

I would take a S/TEP class to get an introduction to how a sidecar works so you can see if it is a direction you want to pursue. At the very least get a copy of David Hough's "How to Drive a Sidecar Rig" from Whitehorse Gear (or other sources), or download these:http://www.sidecar.com/links3.asp

ADVRider has a very active Hacks Forum. Budget some time!

Find someone local to you with a rig and ask some questions.

There are many options for adding a car to your particular bike. Oh yeah, load your wallet $$$$$$$!

As mentioned... The yellow book... A Class if available... This forum and google.

Talk to DMC and talk to Pokie on the Chromeheads site.

So? Any Progress? Howzitt coming?

1200C sidecar

So. What Happened? Did you ever build your Rig? :eek

Yes, I did this. Motorvation sidecars did the install, and it was pretty good. I used it until my ex-wife took it in the divorce. Such is life.

I'm having them do another on my other 1200C.

Jim
