What is the widest tire that will comfortably fit on a /5?

Larger rear tire on /5?

why do you want to go with a larger/wider tire- what are you hoping to achieve?

This very topic comes up in "Keep em Flying", by Mr.Parkhouse. 110mm and 4.00, same size. Don't go bigger. Lots of folk, including me did the 120mm thing for a few years to no real advantage. Looked better perhaps and made the rear tire hard to remove come tire day service,etc....Randy

110mm converts to 4.33 inches, so not really the same size. Even with that, one tire maker's 110mm may not be the same as another maker's. Heck, even 4.00 is not the unverisal value among manufacturers of that tire...it varies too.
The big thing is really the profile. The metric tires are not as tall. This affects a number of things as previously mentioned. I found that metric tires front and rear dropped my bike a good 0.5 inches. Really messed with the /7 sidestand functionality. I'm back on inch-size tires, and I'm a happy camper again.
