Anyone had experiance with Gerbings battery powered fleece jacket? If so what are your thoughts? Only heats core but not the arms.

Great:)

I wear a Gerbings vest, micro wired, his latest invention. Riding to "well below" freezing, I personally love the vest only, works very nicely and actually gets HOT. Buy the thermostat, about 75$ more, worth it. My wife loves her same product but hers has sleeves heated too, no complaints at all. Ours are the Gerbings liners, worn under jacket. I guess they built these for our military too, but no more known about that contract and its uses? Love ours and I ride every day with mine on lately. I have both the motorcycle powered vest and the fleece battery powered jacket and vest. I wear the battery powered units every morning walking the dogs in temps down to 30 degrees. They are great. I would suggest buying the larger battery pack for more than an hour or two on high setting. I do not think the battery powered units would be very good for a motorcycle ride in any really cold weather. The thermostat on the motorcycle powered unit is the way to go for riding.

How long do the battery powered units work? Is there a thermostat? Turned down to, say 50% would it last for hours?

I use the wired Gerbing jacket liner inside a shell. Below 40 degrees I'll wear a full Gerbing eXtreme Element 3/4 length coat and pants. I put a dual built in/installed thermostat on my K16 in the fairing and this system works amazingly well.

I have the Gerbing jacket liner, gloves, pants liner and dual controller and ride in cold weather often. The first thing that gets cold on me is my arms. I would not want to do without heat in the arms.

Vest works for many;

Heating the body core and the arms get the benefits too:). My wife loves her arm heat though and I have my vest, so we have our own personal comfort zones. I ride all winter, even some cross country rides in winter. I did 15 degrees(early at sunrise) in Texas a few years back and the vest only still kept me in my comfort zone:). By mid morning, the temps came up nicely to 40 or so...All day at 15f would be another issue and the arm heat may be warranted indeed. :thumb:usaRandy

I have the Gerbings battery powered gloves and in 3 years I've had to replace 2 batteries. I own another brand heated vest and that battery died after about 2 years. They are expensive to replace.

Thanks for all your input. Will be making a choice soon. Just arrived back from Death Valley and Southern California. Great ride but two days of winds gusting to 45 in places and 90 degree crosswinds. Had to call it quits one afternoon at 1:00 PM. Could not stay in my lane on I-8. Holiday Inn Express in El Centro was great.

Will probably opt for heat in the arms and M/C powered jacket. Battery powered vest is only heated in parts of body core.
