On the way to Bloomsburg my friends and I want to spend some time in DC. Museums etc. Is Greenbelt the best choice for camping? Are there others nearby?
Thanks,

Greenbelt would be a good choice if you intend to go down town to Smithsonian, Capitol, White House, etc. since it's fairly close to a Metro station. Cunningham Falls would also be good. It would be about 38 miles to the Shady Grove Metro stop via Rt 15 and 270. Just avoid morning and afternoon rush hour.

If you intend to focus on the Northern Virginia stuff (Arlington Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Bull Run, etc.,) better to be on the south side of the Potomac, perhaps Bull Run Campground or Pohick Bay.

You might also go to the excellent bmwbwm.org site and pose the question there.
