93 K75S BMW Bag Heat Exhaust Protection

The R bikes that I have owned all had a metallic heat shield taped to the bottom of the BMW bags on the tailpipe side.

I noticed the BMW bags on my 93 K75S do not have any shield. Does this pose a problem? Does the lefthand bag bottom not get a little toasted from the exhaust and heat from the muffler?

The exhaust causes no problem to the bag, but I always put the ice cream in the right hand bag on the way home from the store.:eat
