Basically setting up to practice some taper turning.
I envy you guys. I made a table lamp and birdhouse in "shop" in high school in 1961.

Sundown my retired Navy veteran buddy called. Time for the West Memphis bar tour. Meet U at Old Airport club at 12:30. I’ll be there. Met Sundown and his navy comrades. Had at toast to the navy. On to the West Memphis VA and a toast to the active service members. Final stop, the 40 and 8 Club. Final toast to all the retired service members. Thanks for Your Service.

Pecan Pie
I'm a little jealous...
We had an unusually DRY summer this year, and my pecan trees didn't produce. No pecans for me...![]()
Sad news my friend. The pecan trees in my area produce good about 1 in 3 years. Maybe next year yours will produce good.
Got to the machine shop a little late. Practiced turning a taper on the lathe. Offset the tailstock to get taper.

Here U see the off set of the tailstock of the base or by the two scribed lines. The two scribed lines lined up is when the tailstock is lined up in the usual true placement setting.![]()

Most lathes have this scale at the rear of the tailstock. The one I was using didn’t have the scale, so I kinda made my own. Taking a break from the handle and work on the hammer head. Most folks are familiar with the claw hammer. The ball peen hammer is the one used in machine shops.
