U are very astute on 60’s Honda’s. I saw them; at the time. I wish I had been more observent.
The Japanese motorcycle industry was on a fast learning curve; as was the whole of their industries in the 1960’s. Their country was growing industrially and internationally at an exponential rate.
Back in the early 60’s going to the local stores, I would see Japanese products on the shelves. I remember people kinda smirking and laughing usually commenting on how cheaply and shoddy they looked. By the 70’s that all changed. They had caught up.
A lot of rally goers will be entering Arkansas at West Memphis, Arkansas on I-40/I-55; heading to Mo. I always recommend the Ar./DOT state map. The AHTD state welcome center address is 704 North Service Road West Memphis, Arkansas 72301. 870 735 3637 hours 7AM-5PM. It’s just past the Southland Casino. I generally recommend getting a couple. I cut’em to size to fit my tank bag. Well actually; Ya’ll already know the deal.![]()

Actually when I started, I’d go to the center and get one map; halfway through the trip I’d have it all ripped to pieces. Finally figured out get two; I’m a slow learner.

Map in Hand
Back in the day, riding out in the boondocks; I’d come to a cross road. If no traffic; just set there straddling the bike, pull the map out and study my next move. Map in hand. Yep, the feel of a map in hand and on a weekend adventure. Where to next; straight, or turn left, or turn right? Decisions decisions.![]()

I promoted this BBQ establishment some time back. They have ceased operation. Willy, the pit master left last winter. I kinda knew that doomed it. So if U want BBQ in Marion it’s Top’s BBQ.
