Do your hi mileage buddies make fun of your ratty looking 20+ yr old K because of it's low mileage? Saying the odometer broke only eases the embarrassment slightly. Here is a sure fix. Next time you have the speedo pod apart, wedge the white cog over the 100K digit a little to the right with a screwdriver. Push the 100K disc to the left and it will rotate freely. Add mileage as desired. Now you will gain the admiration fellow riders and compliments on how well you scooter has held up. I would never attempt this myself, of course, and this post is for entertainment purposed only! :gerg:deal

Of COURSE this is for entertainment purposes only, since this is illegal in most, if not all, states!!! LOL

Well, if you sell it and indicate that the ACTUAL mileage is unknown, is it still illegal?

I thought it was illegal to turn the miles backwards, not forwards. :laugh:laugh:laugh:laugh:laugh

I got the idea from an old Peter Egan story back when cars didn't have 100K odometers. He suggested just saying it's rolled over to make the car or bike look better :D

Or you can get one of these.

My only words to people who modify their odos and/or buy spray-on bugs:

If you think that is impressive, imagine what really riding the bike will do! :brow

Back in the days when Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge were terrorizing Cambodia, a lot of Cambodian refugees ended up in Lowell, Mass. One 13 year old refugee lad found himself being harassed at school and opted for the instant "street cred" provided by a live hand grenade. It's really hard to say "Leave me alone" in a more persuasive manner.

A couple of years ago when a friend and I rode the Trans-Labrador highway, we met a couple of fellows in Goose Bay while waiting for the ferry.

They were from Georgia, riding a pair of KTM Adventures that looked like they were set up to do the Dakar. While shooting the breeze, it turned out that one of them had done a trip to Terra del Fuego, the other to Alaska.

When they asked the two old geezers on the budget KLR and Triumph how far we had come, it turned out we had been covering stretches of the Trans-Lab in one day that had taken them two. Instant cred.
