Rally Route

Greetings
Here is a route that I ride often. I start at Red Rock Conrers and use Rt 118. The route include interstate highway to 2 lane twisties, There are many places to take a break. a over look or two and a few twisties. eats and coffee are pretty good, a new winery or two are added each year. The traffic can be thick depending on the day of the week. If the road is choked you only need to turn to the inside and you will find your way back to the rally. There are a few GS roads but I know little of those routes.

Once the weather breaks I will do a ride report.
I am sure the are many other loops that others can post, and we look forward to riding them.
Peace

Hello,

I would jump from Watkins Glen to Hammondsport, NY and then return thru Wellsboro, PA. It won't be as fast, but the scenery should be more interesting and varied.

Have a good one.

Thanks for the routes. I'm hoping many more get added here, coming up from S. Florida and need some quality rides from those in the know!:thumb

If you coming from Florida take the Blue Ridge from Cherokee NC to Front Royal Va 462 miles 522 to Berkley Springs and then there are a bunch of great ways from there like stay on 522 to past Mount Union north then from Sate College 144 to 6 to Wellsboro and then to the Rally

From the Harrisburg Pa area.

If coming from the south by way of Rt 81, I would get off near Harrisburg Pa and take Rt 11 north. If you are pressed for time continue north to the rally site. Rt 11 offers nice river scenes and historical towns that would support your travel needs.

If you have time :

I would cross the Susquehanna River by way of the Millersburg Ferry which is accessable by way of the Ferry Boat Campsite just off RT 11. The campground web site is currently not up and running so check back www.ferryboatcampsites.com/

Use this site for information till the other one gets updated. http://www.millersburgferry.org/2136/2199.html

In Millersburg travel east on Rt 25.......this stretch can be boring because you are in a middle of a rural valley and there maybe a few Amish buggies on your path, it still is better than hot slab. Please be mindful of town speed limits save the throttle for the road ahead.

In the town of Hegins take Rt 125 North. It is one of the best east Pennsylvania motorcycle roads and don't expect any gasoline availability till you reach Shamokin.

In the mining town of Shamokin take Rt 61 west then RT 487 to Catawissa which will be a right turn past the giant culm bank on your right. * Along Rt 487 there are plenty of campsites and knobels Amusement Park is a worth a visit.

You will then cross the Susquehanna River in Catawissa and travel north along the river. Keep an eye out for Profile Rock that looks like an Indian Head, you will also run along side the old Pennsylvania Canal and rail.

There is a small town called Rupert on right and by getting off there you will cross Fishing Creek over a covered bridge. The turn will have a sign for the Indianhead Campground.

Once across the bridge you go left, pass under two railroad bridges and this small road along the creek takes you to the southern end of the fairgrounds.....the rally enterance.

If you miss Rupert you end up there anyway but on the main road.

From Hancock, New York / Catskill Region

A scenic way, with roads that will allow you to average 50-60 miles an hour. But please slow down in the little towns. This way is woods and farmland that passes through enough areas to have hotels, gas stations and eating opportunities. I usually take this way if I an going to or from New England, Upstate NY and the Catskills.

Yes, I already started to map out my ride on the BRP and Skyline...

Still, looking for good day-rides once in Bloomsburg. Looks like a few good ones have been posted so far...

Follow the Catawissa Railroad

Susquehanna Tioga Pike.

If I stay home long enough, I have a few more ride reports to do. #1. Is a trip to Eagles Mere. # 2. The rural farmalnd north of Bloomsburg with scenic overlooks between Exchange and Muncy. I have to sort my pictures and I have # 3. a nice Pocono mountain region, Leigh Gore, Jim Thorpe and the Coal region all the way to Mount Carmel. All great places to ride, eat and visit some historical attractions.........and if you think you'll hate seeing a stripe mine, don't fear because in the summer months you will not be able to thanks to the lush vegatation and the reclaimation projects. Also I have twisty roads that will take you to some very nice farmland and mountain hollows in the Dutch Borders, or you can ride in a Dam if the water level is low.
