Hello everyone, I have posted about my problem on k-bikes and i-bmw but thought that I would post here and see what feedback I get.
I ride a 2006 K1200GT. On a ride to Arkansas in August the red general warning light came on along with the battery indicator which indicates that the battery is not being charged. However, checks that we made indicated that the battery was charging fine. Additionally, my radar detector reads the battery voltage and the voltage has been as it should be. I have now ridden 7000 miles with the indicator lite so I am certain that the battery is charging as it should be and that what I have is a monitoring problem.
The issue now is that no one can tell me with certainty how the electrical system works and what the most likely cause or causes may be. Is there anyone on the forum that has intimate knowledge of how the bike's charging system works and can explain it?
I appreciate any experts that are willing to help me out. Thanks and have a great evening.
If there is any information that you feel I have omitted please ask and I will add it. Thanks again.
