S1000RR "trick" and Mythbusters

tvgal2000

I love to lurk!
Just thought my fellow riders would be interested in the next Mythbusters show (Discovery channel). They are going to try to 'bust' the myth of the S1000RR pulling the tablecloth out from a fully set dining table. (See the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cM9S2AzU28 )

It's a great video if you haven't seen it already and it should be interesting to see if they can reproduce the video!:lurk

Love the Vespa spoof. :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Scooters ROCK!!! :rocker

The myth was busted last night. However, the guys were able to reproduce the "trick" but only after many broken dishes.

I love MythBusters, but...

That bit was LAME!

At a minimum, use the same bike - i.e. a bike with 50 more HP than Jaime's Harley-motored sport-bike, traction control so the bike transmits all that power to the ground rather than wheelspin, and a professional rider to operate the machine - not some casual weekend rider who happens to be a co-host of the TV show.

I realize the original video was likely staged, but if you're gonna replicate the stunt in the YouTube video, replicate the stunt in the YouTube video.

How hard would it have been for a popular TV show to obtain the use of a S1000RR for a week's worth of shooting? It would have been free advertising for BMW. All they would have had to do is ask.

I'm confident that the viewers will contact the show and let them hear about the differences between the original and the MythBusters re-creation.

I agree with the criticism of the bike chosen since the film is meant to show what a BMW S1000 can do, implying that any other bike can't. But, seriously, they still did a good job and you know the original was faked. Cool, but faked.
