2005 K1200 s

I just purchased a 2005 K1200 s, a small section of the aluminum frame where the kickstand and shifter are attached is broken off, shifter assembly and kickstand assembly are gone. Does anyone know of any of these used parts are available and what year bikes are the same as this? I have emailed several used parts places today. Thanks Woody

There is a side stand support bracket that could be replaced, but it the frame itself is broken, you need a new frame. Unless, of course you are an expert tig welder and don't plan on riding in a way that would cause stress to the overheated portions of the frame that you were welding..........It is possible to get a frame and swap it out, the '05 K1200S I am riding now was done that way by a previous owner. I've put 15,000 miles on it since it was reconstructed from salvage, never had an issue (yet) and it has been speed tested to, well, above the speed limit in most states.

Look at a parts fiche (MaxBMW has one on their site) to verify the area that is broken, or upload some pictures like cathdeac suggested, maybe one of us can point you in the right direction. Track bikes don't need kickstands anyway!!!

yes it was salvaged, I tried to attach a pics but I don't think it worked. Thanks Woody

Woody - looks like you need a new frame to me :uhoh

Is there a nearby dealer that you can either bring the bike or pictures to?

If I were you, I will part out the bike.

new frame....$3000K

$3000K = $3,000,000 :jawdrop

WOW, I knew that BMW stuff was expensive but this is nuts :laugh

Just pullin' yer leg.

BTW, if you REALLY want a shocker- look at the price of a new engine- how about $11,800 !!!

To the OP, I know that it wouldn't take care of the sidestand issue, but would rearsets take the place of the missing frame part? On Max's fiche it doesn't look like the piece that is broken off your frame is structural, correct? You could always have the sidestand welded back on.

Just a possibility (although I may not be seeing the complete picture)

John
