K75RT assistance

Greetings,

I just purchased a 1990 K75RT with 34K miles and I need help with two issues.
First, I wonder if somebody has or could provide me with the stock eye to eye measurement for the rear mono shock? Next, the bike needs new fork seals and I wondered if I could just remove the lower legs from the tubes while the tubes remain attached to the triple trees. Then, renew the fork seals and re-install and add the fork oil? Has anybody done this? what would be the problems associated with my idea?

Thanks
Ed

I don't have the stock shock length handy - somebody else can chime in.

If it is a 1990 model it should have the Marzochi (sp?) forks. The sliders will slide down and just clear the ground when the bike is on the center stand. The sliders are attached to the damping rods with capscrews straight up from the bottom - accessible once the axle is removed.

Later model K75s have Showa forks. The bushings on the slider and fork leg interfere and it is easiest to leave the fork assembled and extract the seals from the top and slide the new seals down the fork tubes and insert with the fork tube in place.

13 7/8" center to center on the eyes.

Progressive uses 14" on their shocks for stock height and 13 1/4" for their low shock.

Thank you both for your reply. My bike came with a Fox twin clicker mono shock. The front and center stand were lowered but it appears that the rear shock was untouched for it measures 14 inches. Which is a good thing for me because I'm 6'2". The front has been returned to standard height and a new used center stand just arrived in the mail.

Regards
Ed
