Grayling (1 hour 15 minutes south of Mackinac Bridge) , Michigan is the start for the 63rd AuSable River International Canoe Marathon on July 24th with the event ending Sunday the 25th half way across the state. $50,000 purse and prizes.

The race starts at 9:00 PM (opening program starts at 6:00). Racers first run with their canoes four city blocks and then paddle into the night (120 miles) to Lake Huron arriving 11:00 to 4:00 the next day. BMW of Grand Rapids is a sponsor but is unable to use their VIP tickets for the start and finish. If you want to go to Grayling for the start or Oscoda for the finish ping me at wkoppa@hotmail.com and I will hand them out until gone (4 for the start and 6 for the finish). Admission to the event is free but the VIP areas have premium viewing and some food.

In addition to the many other festival activities in Grayling like a Car Show and Craft sales there is a bicycle tour that departs Sunday to chase the canoes down. Its a 100 mile ride and the fastest time (on a bicycle) is 3 hours and 38 minutes.

As always the AuSable River Valley is a great ride, motor or not.

We would really like to get these to BMW people that will use them.

Ping me for the VIP tickets.
