removing the front brake caliper pin that holds the pads?

I don't have access to my Clymer at the moment and I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove the locater pin that holds the front pads in place? I removed the little cotter pin and while the locater pin rotates with a screw driver, it doesn't screw out and doesn't simply push out, unless I'm not using enough persistence? Perhaps a tap with a punch and hammer??

Anyone?

Yep, small punch and tapping with a hammer will do it. The pin has a collar on it that will allow it to rotate, but makes it a press fit.

The reason it has a screwdriver slot in it is so you can rotate it after putting it back in to line up the hle for the cotter pin.
