Snowflake Part #

Darryl Cainey

Sir Darby
I want to bid on a BMW Snowflake front wheel on ebay and I would like to know the part number of the wheel that fits a 1977 R100RS that has ATE calipers.

I was told the later ones with Brembos won't fit.

Thanks in advance!

Question part 2

I found the part number from Max BMW for the front Snowflake: 36311238959

But the rim for sale has a different part number cast into it.
I can see from the picture that the wheel is not the recalled one.

The question is are the cast in numbers the same as the part numbers?

Maybe this helps.

My 78 R100RS has the new style front snow flake wheel. Cast into it is 36311241164, which as you noted is not the same as MAX BMW says is the correct wheel.

Interesting...neither RealOEM or MaxBMW fiche shows a listing for 36311241164. My guess is that is not a part number but rather a casting number. I'm not sure that BMW put actual part numbers on things...to my knowledge, they didn't do that very much.

Numbers cast into Airhead parts are meaningless when looking at the parts system ... meaning they are NOT the part number.
