front tire cupping

Have had various front tires cup on me and read various reasons for it.I have tried different brands with the same results.I use the correct tire pressures and balance them but at roughly 3- 4000 kms it starts all over again.I know I use the front brake a lot because the rear drum has always been useless.I also am one to use the front aggressively because of the rear brake. I am sure that is causing it but wonder if it is common.I have a 1987 R80Rt.

If you get on the brakes hard when in an off ramp for example, cupping can occur. Ride easy, ride slow, and in a timid manner and you'll be fine. No more cupping!

If the struts on your car goes bad you get cupping on the tires that the strut is bad on...I have wondered if perhaps the fluid is telling the rider that its the wrong weight of fluid...If the fluid is to heavy then the forks and shocks don't preform correctly and simulates what could be a bad strut...On the other hand if the fluid is to light then the same thing would be...The fork would over work and give the tire the impression the shock is failing and cause tire wear...
This is just a thought on my part...

Thanks Guys.I do tend to brake into the corner,so I will try and change my habits .I will also try and not to be as aggressive on the front brake and see if it helps on my next tire.That was the article I read.

What you just described has an insignificant impact on uneven tire wear compared to the amount of time you spend in the arc of left hand turns vs. right.

Back in my early days, trials universal tires were common and they all seemed to cup. The consensus was that cupping was mostly tread pattern. Tire balance is also a factor.
