Just Ridin' Pictures

Went for a scenic ride today combined with beer run. Funny I rode past the Peggy's Cove lighthouse but didn't even see it in the fog.

After leaving Montana, we've flown from SeaTac, WA to Anchorage to rent MotoQuest F850 & F750 GS's and CoddiWomple.

A shot of the Matanuska Glacier headed East to Glennallen on Hwy-1 on Friday.

A shot of the Worthington Glacier headed South to Valdez along the Richardson Highway. Very splendid views as you near Thompson Pass (2678').

Stopped to stretch along Hwy 1 just east of Glacier View... The dirt side of the Matauska Glacier is just over the top of the trees in the valley below.

We were invited to the annual 4th of July Car Launch in Glacier View, but we decided to avoid the crowds and meet friends in ANC.

Had a nice dinner on Mon, and a fine lunch on Tues (commuting in the rain) along the Parks Hwy to MM-224. It's the only place, really, for miles around... :brow

Took a hike up the Windy Creek Trail near the Cantwell Airport when the rains stopped for a bit this afternoon. Hard work in our m/c gear, but worth the effort!

Did 1000 km over three days this week of fall colours in southern New Brunswick. The first day was 2up with Michele, then a day solo. The third was on my DR-Z exploring dirt roads in the area.

That's a long road in to Mt. St. Helens, but it's worth the trip. The visitor center puts it all in perspective.

Thanks for the photos!

Indeed a long ride, but to see it in person along the way and the visuals you encounter of the scope of blast damage is humbling. The new forests since 1980 add to the comprehension. Has it really been almost 42 years?

I took this photo in 2016 when I was out there on my RT. I learned in the visitor center that the blast was really minor in comparison to others in history...

I hope to not experience anything larger than that on this continent in my lifetime! That was a lot of earth moved in seconds! The ash was on everything in Houston,TX for days

2003 we rode in from the east. I'd like to go back and see it from the visitor center.

We were surprised to see the lake still clogged with trees 23 years after the eruption.

I rode out to an outlook in 1984. They had only recently started letting people into the area. We were put into a convoy that was led by a Ranger. The spot we were on was directly in line with the blast and there were many thousands of trees pointing at us. I don’t recall how far we were from the mountain, but it was probably 15-20 miles.
