That's me on the left with the ice cold PBR. This was taken around 1979 in the married student ghetto (Pammel Court) at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. The bike is an original 1952 Panhead Harley with factory sidecar (first year of the foot shift Harleys). Notice the middle bike's seat. It was a slab of chromed steel with no padding, owned and ridden by my buddy who was known simply as "Roach". The third bike is a 1978 Superglide ridden by my brother in law. The foxy chick is my wife (now of 38 years marriage and still a fox).
We had a ton of fun back then and it's a miracle I am still alive. Much wiser and more sedate now (hey... I'm now a BMW guy..).

Above:
The long way to Prineville Oregon 1980 BMWMOA National Rally on the Dempster highway (officially opened on August 18, 1979)

Below:
I was very frugal, and wore these boots on my way to wining the BMWMOA national Mileage Contest three years in a row - 1979, 1980 & 1981

The bike is a 1977 75/7

Not pre digital but compare to Beer Team's Picture

Yes it is Hyder Alaska but in 2006. I thought it would be a neat comparison to Beer Team's old school photo of the same street.

Two Firsts

My first bike, a Yamaha 80. That's me in my new five year old Cooper FJ. I scraped together $2,000 for it. Got my SCCA license. The F1 dream never worked out but I raced for 27 years. Had bikes all that time. No more racing, but lots more motorcycles now.
