I've driven a 2003 K1200GT and that was very nice except for one flaw and that was the slight hesitation on acceleration. That issue was resolved in later model years. My 2006 K1200S doesn't have that problem and is zoom zoom fast.

Anyway, the K series is a lovely engine and you should take a spin on it just to try it out. Have fun

Yes, a friend has '00 K12lt with 105k miles. Asking 4600. I rode it and it felt great. Smooth, powerful. He wants the k12S. He put all but 5K miles on it.

I'm not ready for that much touring bike, yet.

    We're getting closer.

I echo the inspection from a tech. Ask if you can learn as they inspect the bike...I found it very instructive. (my first BMW).
IMHO,good accessories are air pump, tire kit, extra lighting, headlamp protector, flashing/strobing/pulsating (pick one) brake lights. Safe riding.
Thanks. As you can see, I'm getting close. The one in Pomona sounds nice. 6500. plus 9.75% sales tax! Yike. I'll go see it on Wednesday.

Yeah, I agree...the LT is a bit much for bopping around town. I sure did like the GT model though. Before I bought my K1200S I was looking for the GT but there were so few of them available locally. So when I spotted the S-model I ended up with it instead.

I'm currently in Redding California heading to Casa Grande, AZ in our motor home with the two BMW's in the trailer behind us. We are looking forward to some nice rides down in that area for the next month or so. I'll think about ya when I'm out on the twisties of the Apache Trail.

    Good luck...

Your weather should be perfect in AZ. We're had a little rain pass through here in So Cal, but sunny today.

Have fun! Post some road pics.

    Hi Brad:

We are happily settled in our RV park here in Casa Grande and I took some pictures along the way and will send them when I download them to the computer. Weather was 75 degrees today and we took a nice ride looking for the Casa Grande monument but unfortunately all we found was a Walmart where we purchased a couple of bike covers for the bikes at a good price.

Andrea is getting used to her new bike, the 800 ST, and really loves it. You can't imagine how glad I am that she's happy with it as it makes exploring a lot more fun.

I hope your search is coming along and that you find what your looking for.
    All the best

I have rode 1100s a few times and own a 1150,that being said it would be very hard to go back to a 5 speed.I would always be looking for 6th gear, makes such a big difference on long rides.

    Well,

The bike looked very nice. It needs detailing , update the service and 2 fresh tires. 9945miles.

Dealer quoted me 6500, which I assumed meant +tax. He showed me 6400 out the door on his computer. I lost my poker face and before I could say I'll take it, he said , "let me check on one thing". When he returned he upped the price by 1300 bucks.

So, no, I didn't buy it.

    Odd sales tactic.

    Still shopping.

The end ratio of the 5sp and 6sp are the same.

Currently, 6500 offer in on 99 1100rt with 28K and all goodies. Very clean. Owner is mulling it over. Also saw 2001 with 10K and most goodies. Pretty nice, dropped once needs tires and some love. Owner ran bike on center stand, high speed idle on , and burned the plastic down low. Bubbled the plastic and peeled the paint in about 4" diameter area. Header pipes were very hot.

    Gettin' close!

Hey, it's just like love....sometimes the pursuit is more fun than the catch.

Arizona rides have been great. Yesterday we drove up to Tortilla Flats for burgers, beer and twisties. The picture attached is when we drove through Nevada and drove over to the Hoover Dam. The new bridge in the background is a lovely backdrop.

Very nice. I was in the parking lot overlooking Hoover Dam mid October. That new bridge is spectacular!

The chase is nearing the end.

    Great pic!

Zeroing in on a 2001 r1100rt, 10K miles, top box, no heated grips, abs, very clean except where he ran it on high idle on the center stand until the plastic melted and blistered/peeled the paint by the header pipes. Graphite gray, standard seat. Has a fresh battery, needs a rear tire. Balls in his court at $6K. Keep your fingers crossed. Oh, the windshield has delaminated. Does anyone know of a polish that will remove the peeling layer on a standard BMW windshield?

Tire suggestion for the rear? Fronts OK.

Sounds good. I'll just buy an after market (better) w/s or stock here. I've seen them bet 50-100 like new in the flea mkt.

    +1 on the windshield replacement.
and i would use search function for tire recommendations. that question gets asked anew about once every 4 or 5 days, and the answers remain the same. no significantly new tires for RT application have been introduced in the last year (Roadsmarts and PR2s have enough time on them since their release that there are plenty of reviews for personal analysis).
