Alex De Angelis Injury Update - Still Critical, But Now Speaking
Alex De Angelis remains in hospital in Japan after his horrific crash during practice at Motegi. He suffered multiple injuries in the accident, including fractured vertebrae, broken ribs and contusions on the lung. He also took a severe blow to the head, rendering him unconscious. FWIW: This is a possibility; however, Ducati is not an underperforming part of the VW empire so I would rate the likelihood as low. Ducati motorcycle sales are showing a real ROI under Audi ownership with growth potential potential as their footprint is expanded world wide. The current need of VW to come up with solutions speaks to the original reason for the purchase of the Italian firm. In addition to potential to grow sales the Italian motorcycle manufacturer and its subsidiaries were seen as having valuable engineering assets in small engine design and EMS technology. Both areas will be critical to developing a solution to VW’s problems. Operations such as SEAT and some of its other auto manufacturing brands in this segment in the over three hundred companies under VW umbrella are more likely candidates.

Yet in the diesel trinity of emissions, milage and performance BMW appears to have chosen to emphasis performance while meeting standards at the expense of mileage. It is not set to take advantage of the market void formed by exiting VW buyers in Europe or the US. The impact on brand Germany and its various corporations remains to be tallied.
