In The Pink

It is breast cancer awareness month and I have a good friend who I am supporting in the Walk for a Cure event. Over lunch one day, we laughed over the fact that manufacturers were getting a little carried away with the color pink.

Now I understand it is to bring awareness and I'm not knocking it. But this led to a friendly text message game between us. For the past two weeks, we've been texting each other each time we see something totally outrageous. For example: pink tic-tacs, a pink maglite flashlight, pink toilet paper (no really! this was to promote breast cancer awareness, not just pink in color to match decor!) Yesterday, she texted to let me know she picked up a prescription with a pink ribbon embossed on the lid.

This is all in fun....what unlikely pink things have you seen lately?

Our local MLS Soccer team, Toronto FC, recently played a game in pink jerseys, and pink jerseys were available for sale during the game (I'm now a proud owner of one). My grandmother died from breast cancer, my mother-in-law survived it TWICE - 30 years apart, and a co-worker is currently battling it. I'm ALL IN as far as support goes.

My wife just got a set of pink Wilson golf clubs and we also have a can of pink tennis balls.

I was out riding on a beautiful afternoon yesterday, when I came through a small town and spotted this. I had to turn around and go back, thinking of this thread.

I saw pro athletes (male and female) in pink cleats like these:
