The object of the article was to celebrate the introduction of the /5. Not that many people will care about annual accuracy.

Enjoy the fact that they are not forgotten. Maybe one day they will achieve the same recognition as the R69S or R90S.

Have fun riding your first generation modern Airhead.

I realize that... Although after I hear the "BMW makes motorcycles?" comment I also hear "Is that pre-war?"

Then again for "Guests" lurking on the site...
This is a BMW board. We should know, eh?

It would have been nice to have an accurate model to depict the introduction of the /5. What I appreciate though, is that someone took the time to highlight it's anniversary. Somehow it's anniversary escaped me and I suspect most of the BMW motorcycle community.

In time I hope that the BMWMOA will have an article to celebrate the introduction of the mono-shock 1985-ON R80 (1986 for the R65, 1987 R100RS and 1988 R100RT/R100GS series) and the Hexhead.

    Have fun.

So you are sure this one's not a GS Adventure then?

Woah. I honestly had no idea.

I don't think I've never seen you in the airheads sub-forum. Doesn't that thing ever break down?

O Boy... The trolls are out.

    On an end note.
One would think there would be more than enough 'image sources' on this site.
Regardless... It wasn't intended as a dig or gotcha post...
    Just an observation.

    Good Night.

    No.
It's the easiest thing to work on... Pre-computer days ya know!
Although, that oil filter is a PITA.
It gets what was once called a 'tune-up'...
    Not a 'service'.

Good grief, read your sig line and give them a break or take it up with BMW.

They probably pulled the picture from the archive they have built up supplied by BMW Press Club. If the article is sourced form BMW they would have supplied it. This is picture P0005613

BMW supplies this color photo as an exemplar of the R75 in all of their releases free of copyright restrictions. The article is celebrating the start of production of the R75 which began in 1969.

We get our undies in bundle over colors and accessories. Not all colors were available in all markets in a given model or year. Accessories often differ from market to market and during a production run based on supplier. I don‘«÷t know if red was a European only color the first year of production or if it was not available at all. Your color reference link is US specific.

Written in house or sourced from BMW I enjoyed the piece and am glad it is currently running on the site.
