    Guardian Bells

Legend has it that evil road spirits have been latching themselves on to motorcycles for as long as there have been bikes on the road. These evil road spirits are responsible for mechanical problems and bad luck along a journey.

Legend goes on to say that by attaching a small bell onto your bike, the evil road spirits will become trapped inside the bell where the constant ringing drives them insane, making them lose their grip untill they fall to the ground. (Ever wonder where pot holes come from?).

Legend also has it that the mystery of the guardian bell carries twice as much power when it is purchased by a friend or loved one and given as a gift.

So, a friend gave me one of these guardian bells, and i'm wondering where to hang it on my R1200RT.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

I believe the bells work best on V Twin cycles,as that is where most of them are. They work best on Harleys because they are ringing any time the engine is running and shaking. (they have more evil spirits that need to be exorcised). I really believe the legend was started by a bell manufacturer who was about to go under and needed something to spur sales.

Then again, V Twin riders probably need supernatural protection to help make up for their disproportionate lack of legitimate safety gear.

I hung mine next to my fuel line magnetic molecular alignment device and behind the deer whistles. But that K triple was too smooth, so I pulled a plug wire to make the bell work. Perfect!

I say hang if from your rear view mirror in your car.
This way you'll get better cellphone reception and block out viewing those annoying headlight modulators.

    Actually, hang it anywhere... Low.

I would put a hook on it and hang it on the Christmas tree this year.

Actually, I bless bikes... when asked.... at that time, I help install the bells ... if they have one. (Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings)

To me, when I wash or check or just just visually check my bike and my eye falls to the bell, it reminds me of the RIDING BROTHER who gave it to me. Reminds me there is a friendship there, as any gift should.

There are things in this life which we can't explain...but we still do them... such as ride motorcycles.

Carrying the bells will not make us better riders....

I have received bells as gifts thru the years...As mentioned it reminds me of the person who gave it to me,some are pretty special to me as that person is no longer with us. You are not supposed to buy your own. I have had them on V-twins,horizontal twins and a few singles...and on several BMW's...Do they work?...who knows?

I was once given a bell. After installing it bad mechanical things started to happen, so I removed it and the problems didn't return. I think I had a "Cruiser" model bell on my bike which is more "touring" style. Be careful you install the right kind!

Hang it around the rear of the paralever arm so it will be near the final drive unit. Seems obvious.

Boy, what a bunch of old poops!

A friend gives you something as a gift and you decide not to hang it on the bike! Its not like a stupid Christmas gift we don't want to wear, don't need or don't want. I received one from a friend and hung it on my kick stand spring on my K1100RS. What can it hurt? Embrace the gift and make a friend happy and hang it on your bike, whether it works or not. Besides ya never know. Life works it mysterious ways sometimes.

P.S. Hang it somewhere where ya can't see it, if your an old poop!
