Where to stay around St. Louis?

We will be leaving for a trip west on our LT tomorrow and anticipate stopping for the night in or around St. Louis. Is there a "more desirable" area to stay in? We're coming on I64 and will be going on to Kansas City. Thanks.

    I 64

I 64 is closed in St. Louis for construction.

270 after you cross into Missouri and around Lambert Airport has a ton of motels.

Be sure and stop at Gateway BMW.

Where to stay in St. Louis

I-64 is closed from near downtown to Highway 170. Coming from 64 either take 255 South and around (it changes into 270) or from downtown take 70 or 44 west. If you are not in a hurry, and can spend some $ I would recommend finding your way to Alton IL and take the Great River Road to 5 miles past Grafton and stay at Pere Marquette State Park Lodge. The River Road is right next to the Mississippi and is a fantastic 30 minute ride. Stop in at Fast Eddie's in Alton for cheap bar food. In the morning you can take 2 ferrys on your way back to I70 through St. Charles.

If that's not for you, I would recommend finding a hotel in Chesterfield valley rather than by the airport. IMHO a little more secure. Also, all the casinos have hotels if you want to contribute to our schools.

Leaving St. Louis, again if you are not in a hurry follow 94 west from 64 - St. Charles. When you have had enough there are a couple roads that will get you back to 70.

yeah, i would second staying in the chesterfield valley, vs the airport area. more secure and plenty of options as far as lodging, gambling, and food goes.
