R100/7 1977 model is sitting along the hwy. Price is $3K. 87K showing on odo. Clean and straight. I'm a GS guy who knows nothing about airheads. Can anyone give me a quick simple primer on what to ask about?? PS:I can wrench given enough time. Thanks.

If the whole bike rides straight (not a crashed bike), runs at speed without smoking (follow behind with car), and shifts good, its a winner. The greatest area of concern for me would be the transmission and clutch. If those feel trashed then the bike is going to be costing serious money from day one.

The '77 /7s were the last of the bikes before the EPA got a hold of them. Probably worth seriously investigating.

has it been both ridden w some regularity and maintained? How long since it's been ridden? Time, not miles is the enemy. Rubber dries out, rust keeps on rusting, etc. good luck.
