Does anyone know if the front brake disks for an 86 K100 will fit my 85 K100RS? Thanks!

it's the rotars that I need. I know someone selling them for the 86 bike not the 85

Staciebug, It's going to get complicated. It depends on what type of a ABS set-up you have on your bike and what the ABS was on the other bike.

Do you have ABS on your bike?

Early K75 & 100's use the same rotors, and neither the 85 or 86 had ABS. Should
swap out fine.

ABS was introduced on the 1988 K100RS Special Edition.

1985 and 1986 rotors are identical. BMW # 34111457386 $362.92 each!!!

Just be sure that they are not too thin or warped.

There are a number of excellent online parts fiches out there, I like RealOEM's (helps to have the last 7 digits of your VIN to pinpoint exact month and year of manufacture.) To check parts interchangeability, just look up the part for your bike, then the part on the bike you think might be the same. As for the rotors, as noted above, they are the same.

Thanks!

Thank you for the comments, I purchased the rotors, I found them on Ebay for $100, they are supposedly not warped or too thin, we'll see when they arive. Theres no way i can buy them new. Too spendy:thumb

Hey Stacie - sounds like you have a good solution. When you get the rotors examine them closely for any cracks, especially around holes and slots.

I am a huge fan of "recycled" parts, especially the more expensive ones that don't often fail. There are a lot of bike strippers out there, here are some that either specialize in or carry a lot of K-Bike parts (ones I have used with favorable results noted):

http://www.kbikeparts.com/
Run by a K-Bike enthusiast, stocks a wide variety of parts at extremely competitive prices. The Duck has also been known to spend time helping to diagnose problems and has a nice tech section too. Well respected for business practices.

They also have a lot of parts in stock and are also very competitive price-wise. Also well respected for business practices.

No experience with them but have heard good things.

No experience but someone on another thread here had a good review.

No experience.

No experience, had the link in my bookmarks.

Then there are places like eBay, the BMW MOA Flea Market, the IBMWR K-Bike parts pages, etc. that are also great sources.
