K1100 gauge jitters

To most who are familiar with the K1100RS, it has two Motometer gauges. One for fuel level and the other, engine coolant temp. The temp gauge seems to wiggle a fair amount (1/8ÔÇØ) while riding down the highway. Although I didnÔÇÖt view the gauge while sitting still, I am inclined to think it does the same at that time also. I checked the connections at both the gauge and at the sender for signs of corrosion, none. Does anyone know if either component has a history of premature failure?

When I checked the gauge connector, I sprayed the piece with Wurth OS spray. All contacts were OK. I hate like heck to replace these puppies with MotoMeter units, so if I have to, IÔÇÖll use VDO.

You thoughts and remedies are welcome.

Phactory may know a little more about this than I do, but I seem to recall that Motometer gauges have a little felt pad inside that damps the motion of the needles. After a while, they need to be replaced or resuscitated or something to keep them damping happily.
