Heated grip replacement

Anyone done this on the older (gray - square) heated grips - if so - what did you use for replacement grips?

I tried generic - and the shoulder used to hold the heated grip on the left side creates a problem by moving the grip further away from the controls, which for short-thumb people (no comments please!) causes a problem.

I did check out the later model grips - and it looks like the grip would fit - but I'd need some sort of plastic endcap to cover where the wiring is on the early grip design.

Ideas?
