Anyone know what kind of petcock this is?

I have a 1972 R50/5 that has these petcocks on it. Does anyone know what kind they are? I need to get a rebuild kit and replace one of them. They have a symbol that looks like an A and a W overlapping inside a gear shape.

Here is another photo. It is all metal with brass tubes that go into the tank.

Does an Everbest have that symbol? I thought maybe it was a newer Karcoma one (10 or so years) but it doesn't say anything else anywhere on it. It has a similar rubber gasket.

My R75/6 had one Everbest when I got it. I replaced it in 2004 and haven't looked at it since, so this is from memory.

I don't see a symbol. Everbest's say Everbest on the lever, and probably have an indication for Auf, Zu, R. Everbests were cylindrical on the bottom part, not hex. The have a bulge out the back that I can't quite make out if yours has one, too. They're also not supposed to be rebuilt, because of a crimp that has to be dealt with.

I think it may be a home made one, or some unknown-by-me off-brand one, even though it strongly resembles an Everbest. It's too basic, sterile, and shiny looking for me to think it's original.

Newer Karcomas look like older Karcomas; The old ones had the straight tube, the new ones were 90 degree.

    ...in my experience.

Hunch it came off a Ural, or one of the Chinese copies of the Korean copy of one of the Russian copies of pre-WWII BMWs, upgraded to contemporary standards of precision and safety, of course, dontcha know!

Duane has pictures of the three typical petcocks - Everbest, Karcoma, and Germa.

The petcock does look like an Everbest, but it's obviously different.

It sounds like it probably doesn't go to this bike, so I will replace them with something I can service easier. What do ya'll suggest? I want some that are easy to find parts for, easy to rebuild and work well.

They're probably not the cheapest, but Bing Carb. sells Karcoma petcocks. I wonder if a good used set would be a better option?

Haven't checked recently, but brand new petcocks are likely under $30.

    Rebuilding is dubious economically speaking.
