I have a 1995 K75. I am starting to have to double clutch to down shift sometimes. Please help if you know what to check or what could be the problem.
Thanks,
Dave

That is an absolute, positive, sure sign that the clutch hub/input shaft splines are dry. At a minimum they will need to be cleaned and lubricated. If you ignore the symptons, soon you will need a new clutch disk, and a new transmission input shaft.

You need to remove (have removed) the transmission. Then clean and inspect the splines. If still servicable, they need to be lubricated with a moly paste - then reassembled.

Hi, Daves,
Classic sign that you need to do a clutch spline clean and lube. I've done it on two of the K75's I've had (not, unfortunately for Paul, on the one we sold him a few years ago). Both the ones I've done had ABS. It makes it a bit more complicated, but not much. Plan on a weekend for the first time. Where are you located?

My '88 k75S just started having problems downshifting too. I presume this would be the same problem,"spline lube"?

Moly past

I use Pro Honda MOLY 60 paste on my 88 K75. A small tube should last a lifetime. Get a handful of toothbrushes. They work well to clean and apply the past to the splines. Be sure to inspect the condition (profile) of the splines to be sure they are OK.
