Isn't it refreshing

The lack of major problems with the Hexhead. I'm aware of final drive issues. If mine fails, I'll get it fixed. People post when things go wrong and I don't see a long list of problems here. I've never enjoyed a BMW (I've owned several) more than the Hexhead I now own. I hope this feeling last for years.

I would have to agree with you on all counts! I really liked my R1150RT but this R1200RT is just about perfect...

Having made the switch last summer from Triumph and Yamaha to BMW, I feel compelled to add another pleasurable facet of Beemer ownership.

Winter riding here in Vermont is a non-starter for most of us. The GS is in my shop right now. The shop is surrounded by snow and the thermometer reads -16F at the moment. Nothing to do but remove all the little parts, clean and reinstall them, maybe add a few farkles now and then. And after doing this for two months of weekends and evenings it just occurred to me that I've only used a handful of tools!

If I had done that much work on one of my previous bikes 90% of my tools would be scattered throughout the shop!

Very refreshing!

I'd be afraid to start a thread like this. Your final drive is bound to fail now.
:)

Refreshingly normal

I put 70K on an 04 rt and have 18K on my 07. pretty soon I have to replace the Metzlers that came on it.. other than regular service (per the manual) and tires, I never touched the 04. Don't expect to ever touch the 07 either..
