For some reason those are really creepy pictures. I think it's because of how huge those cars are and almost completely buried. It's like a slow, painful death.

Good stuff

This is the house my wife's mother grew up in. Her cousin is not taking very good care of it...

California got tired of fixing this one and built the replacement road about a 1/4 mile inland.

On the return from a 10 day trip passed an abandoned farm house in rural Missouri. Turned around to check it out. Appeared as if the owners just walked away from it all, including everything inside. Was fearful of crashing through a rotting floor so just a few pics. Actually, I thought it was kinda creepy.

And a FREE ice cream cone to anyone who can name where these were taken!

Just went back here yesterday.

St Louis should be absolutely ashamed of the condition of this massive and beautiful piece of architecture and history. It makes me mad to see it worse off every time I explore it.

As with a lot of crumbling landmarks, all it would have taken was an adequate roof repair! Hopefully the adjacent mansion will one day (soon) be saved.

Argh!

There's an old theater in town, here. Part of the roof has caved in and it has been the home of a large flock of pigeons for years. The fire department uses its aerial ladder to check it out and take pictures of the inside. Reportedly, the pigeon droppings are more than three feet deep in places. :hungover The city has been discussing what to do about the place for many years. A group was formed to try to rebuild it. Tomorrow they are finally going to start demolition. Some places just get beyond saving.
