What are you listening to today?

First show was in 1972 opened up for Santana then finished the show with them. Seen them over a hundred times through the years.
Huge fan.

The last concert ever Saturday August 20th in Kingston ON. Broadcast live, streaming and played in open venues all across Canada tonight. Gord Downie Canada’s unofficial poet laureate is dying. He and the 'Hip' are giving all of us one last concert before he goes. Gord is giving back like no musician in our country ever has before.

Watched the uninterrupted CBC telecast. Incredible.

I read this morning that 10.1 million Canadians (almost half of us) watched the Broadcast live on TV, and who knows how many other millions watched streamed content live on SmartPhone, Tablets, etc!

I seem to like songs with a travel aspect. I almost made it to Australia...

Not listening to anything currently - BUT got to work AC/DC Saturday morning & night in Washington, DC. Ended up on the show crew on a truss spot- which is a spotlight mounted on a lighting truss, suspended above the stage, amidst and as part of the concert lighting rig. My job? Spotlight Angus Young. :thumb

Love my job.
:dance

btw: they were awesome. Axl Rose singing in place of Brian Johnson; he was way better than you might think he'd be.

DISCLAIMER: it was work. I was 40 feet in the air above the stage on headset listening to lighting cues, so not like I was chillin out, seeing The Show. Gotta stay extremely focused, and and they played for at least 2 1/2 hours without a break. I got up around 3:30 AM Saturday morning to get down to DC for an 8:00 call, and got home around 4:00 AM Sunday, after load out. LONG day, (abnormally long for sure) as happens often in the entertainment industry.

Still, as stated- I love my job.

Dylan gets his due

Kudos to Bob Dylan. Nice to see one of our generation's greatest poets and songwriters get this award while he is still around to enjoy it. A few days ago I was out riding my G/S on a glorious sunny fall day. But the monsoons are upon us now with 3 big storms colliding off the wet coast so my 3 best buddies are sitting in the shed. And yup, the motorcycle blues are setting in.

Paul Barriere's (Little Feat) great song is not about bikes but it works for me today.

A local band played this tune this evening and did a great job with it.

Just think.........most of his really good stuff was done before 1970. In other words, he peaked before his 29th birthday.

I like this tune:

Leon Russell is Dead

He touched a lot of people and worked with a lot of great musicians. Here's a "Song for You".
