Help!!!, looking for replacement battery for 84 R80 GS

04r1150rs

ONE LESS HARLEY
I'm so confused I'm looking for a replacement battery for a 1984 R80 G/S, now I want it to fit in the stock battery box w/ the straps holding it down. I really don't want to shell out $100 plus for one.
Kindof looking at the Panasonic LCX1220P, but it measures 6.5" tall and the stock location appears to be 5"Hx 7 1/8" L X 3"W.

any help on a choice would be greatly appreciated.

OK just found out that one does work

I'll get hate mail for this, but I cut my battery tray to accept a $19 riding lawn mower battery. Wal-Mart special, that.

R65 similar?

I was having a hard time getting an battery for my small frame twin shock R65, as it is the skinny /5 type - not sure if yours is the same as mine.
Anyway, there is a local independent here called "batteries plus" - who does cell phone, laptop, farkle batteries etc. Lo and behold, they had the correct Yuasa 5 digit part number battery, and in fact on the shelf!
Suggest you try a similar battery specialist in your area and see what they come up with.

Take your measurements, terminal locations, amp hour rating, and stock battery model number to your local farm supply or auto parts store. I've been getting Powersports AGM batteries for my bikes as needed for about $60 each, warranteed, and made in the USA.
We have a "battery warehouse" in town, but they tend to treat you like they're you're only option and price accordingly. I've been asked for over $100 for an old fashioned conventional lead acid battery before.

At the local airhead shop, I've bought a way-too-expensive battery twice now (no warranties or discounts or anything), just to have it crapped out in less (or MUCH LESS) than a year.

I'd love to see some more names/models of cheap-o batteries that people are putting in their bikes.

Replacement Battery

Why would you want to skimp on the battery? Borrow some money from your mom and do it right. Leave behind the lead / acid world and embrace gel battery technology. Resistance is futile hahahaha. I put an Odessy 680 in my R100RT after years of frustration and 3 YUASA batteries. Last winter I was out of commission so of course my wife didn't put a trickle charger on. Actually I'm sure she auctioned off the charger with everything else. It sat through the winter, dead as a nail when I finally got it this month. I charged it a few hours and it came back 100% (actually 100% charged) and so far shows no ill effects. No acid to spill on my riding gear. No need to peer into it to see if it needs servicing. Tons of crank. You can have it shipped by REGULAR post, fully charged and ready to roll.

Same model for your bike. Just make sure you order it with the right connectors.

If you only want to spend about $ 40.00 on a Battery that will last about 1 to 1 1/2 years. go to Advance auto, or Autozone or Wal-mart with your mesurments. Personally I perfer the higher dollar Gel batterys.
