Thanks for picking up the slack, Boney!!!

Thanks Alex, for posting this thread.

I'll get the ball rolling, since I brought the camera out into the backyard with my coffee this morning.

Firwst picture of the day:

It came out surprisingly well considering the amount of caffiene fueling me (or lack thereof).

Having fun with the morning light. Intersting fill lighting from the right- diffuse reflections from the white house. Didn't notice it until I uploaded the pictures- I'll have to pay better attention next time.

The Morning Glorys were side lit, and I had a hard time getting the white base of the flowers to expose properly and still get enough light on the flower...

And last of my morning flowers, a slight overexpsure:

None of the bird shots came out. I couldn't get close enough with my little zoom. With any luck I'll get some good one's if the lighting is right in the evening.

I guess I can't participate much in this assignment. Some good pics from the weekend are in the Vermont Rally thread .

But most of them have passed through photoshop. To me, there is no reason not to post your best work, and my best work needs some post processing. :dunno

Yup. I shoot raw, so must do some kind of post processing just to create the jpegs. I might tweak color balance, for example. Arbitrarily saying that the post processing done by the camera is OK but post processing done by me is bad just seems wrong.

Ignoring the raw-to-jpeg conversion I sometimes take a picture knowing I'm going to crop the hell out of it. I'm on a bike. I've made room for the camera and one lens providing it's not too long. So I make do by cropping what I can get with the medium lens that I have with me.

Mainly, though, I'm not very good. :cry I don't have the eye. :banghead I mainly take snapshots. Sometimes I get lucky and can turn one of those snapshot into a photograph with some post processing. :violin

Great shots Bony. I don't have much this week. Really busy this week with other projects...

Show us what'cha got and tell us what'cha did with the image.:deal

Wasn't the idea of these tasks, to help folks take better pictures, using their cameras, rather than photoshop skills?

And haven't we been around the block on this a couple of times already?

Surely if the intention, as stated in the header, is to become more adept when shooting, then this thread needs to stay "pure".
If there is a need to develop photoshop skills, and I see no reason why there shouldn't be, then a thread for that too, rather than an either, or, a both situation.

One more thought re post processing. . .

I took LOTS of pictures of our trip to Alaska this summer. In the past I would have cropped, and "improved" most any picture I took. But, because of the rules of these assignments, I paid more attention to getting it right in the camera each time. I took more time to frame pictures and get what I wanted.

Good thing, because in enjoying the journey, I didn't have time to mess with pictures. I just posted what I shot. Glad I had so much practice here first.

A discipline I wasn't accustomed to, but really appreciate. Thanks, Tom :brad

Nice pics, Voni.
Someone said something about a critique, is that going to happen?
I should mention that I shot these pics before I read the assignment which may be a good thing, was just doing what I usually do.
