$250 doesn't sound like a discounted room to me.
I can't figure out the high price of accomodations in North America considering that operating costs here are practically nothing in comparison.
It's called GREED. Your utopian European friends apparently haven't discovered it.
The Dolomites are most certainly beautiful. I'd love to visit them one day, however the event in question occurs in New York's Catskill Mountains which are located in the southern portion of the state. Myself and several members ride them regularly and quite enjoy the scenery and riding experience. So what if the leaves are changing. The Adirondacks aren't even remotely close to the Dolomites in scenery and riding experience, yet I can get one hell of a room with breakfast and dinner for $75 in the Dolomites.

Ok, now you're losing me, Alex. Where has anyone in this thread or otherwise suggested or even remotely intimated that there was a room in the Adirondacks that was available for $250.?The location has nothing to do with it. But for some reason, someone in the Adirondacks thinks the changing of the colors warrants some rediculous accomodations pricing. Its a good thing they don't think the Dolomites are so special where I overnight or I might be paying ten grand a night.
At $250 a night, that place should not hold their breath waiting for me.

Do we have an MOA event in the Adirondacks stuck in somewhere between Hunter and Spartanburg?

Paul, I call that theft!!! I'd hate to see the regular price.

I'm sure the Dolomites are nice and after I have seen all that my home has to offer I might come see yours. But please don't run my people down in the mean time.
I wish they were "mine". I live here.
Run down? I think they're doing it all by themselves with those room rates.
"Where" doesn't really matter. I thought it might have been where Paul lives since he mentioned the price in his post. Once again, I don't care where that accomodation is...$250...what are they smok'in?
