Any route ideas for Myrtle Bch to Blue Ridge,GA??

Hey,All...
I am headed to Myrtle beach,SC from St Augustine,FL in the AM...
Will be staying a day with the GF and Her fam...
THEN,I will be headed from Myrtle Beach to Blue Ridge,GA for a day,then back to St Louis,(home)
Anyone have any suggestions for a good route from Myrtle to Blue Ridge?
I'd like to make it a day trip,anf\d avoid the slab...
Oh...And a good lunch joint would be helpful,too!!

If it was me, I'd travel across thru columbia to Athens Ga on US 378/US 78, take US 129 to Gainesville to GA 53 West over to GA400/GA 19 north through Dahlonega to up around Blairsville, then GA 515 over to Blue Ridge. You could follow US129 all the way up through Commerce, but the GA 19 route is nicer, especially in the afternoon. You will avoid traffic except for the larger cities (Columbia, Athens). You can avoid most of that with some local map planning.
Just my .02. That would be a good days travel, with lots to see and places to stop.

Interested in a dawn to dusk scenic route?

Head north on 17 to SC 9 and hang a left (west). Skirt around Spartanburg by taking SC 150 north at Pacolet. After crossing the Pacolet River take the third left - Chapel Street (SC 810) to Cowpens. Take Batleground Road (SC 110) north out of Cowpens. Turn left (west) at SC 11, the Cherokee Foothills Parkway. From here on it's all good.

Alternately you can just stick with SC 9 all the way to SC 11, but you'll go right through Spartanburg.

When you get to Walhalla take SC 28 north. About 18 miles up the road, at Pine Mountain, start looking for Warwoman Rd to your left. Take Warwoman to Clayton, GA and pick up US 76 west, which will take you to Blue Ridge.

A variation on this route, which would cut off probably at least two hours, would be to take US 501 out of Myrtle Beach and then do the slab thing on I-20 west to I-26 west, which has an interchange with SC 11 (I think it's exit #5). Just depends on how much you want to see of the South Carolina coastal plain. Though SC 9 does pass through Cheraw, birthplace of Dizzy Gillespie and you can see this statue:
