My New Airhead!

Just picked up a 1992 R100GS. I know the owner hasn't been able to ride it much for years but he maintained it very well. It has 10,002 miles on it. It's *not* purple, BMW refers to it as Carica Blue/Avus black. It kinda matches the "blue" buds on the tree. :)

What's nice is I can switch the Corbin seat from my R100R to the GS if I don't want the purple, I mean blue stock seat.

Great looking airhead! Glad you explained the color. I would have jumped to the conclusion it was purple without your help. The GS paint schemes must be designed during Octoberfest(insert German spelling here).

W Buff

Back in the day I had a 72 GT750 LeMans about that colour. Even a thousand explanations that it was "magenta NOT pink" didn't help.:violin

Nice bike !!

The folks here in Kansas State would wave their arms off at ya ( Purple Pride and such). Just dont ride it in Lawrence Kansas JayHawkers would throw rocks at ya.......( not too keen on Purple there).

Very tidy bike.:thumb

Seats a bit bright!!:brow

I recently got me a 1990 R100GSPD, and am enjoying the Airhead experience.

Good;

A rare color from BMW, so cherish it. Not many were painted this color, compared to the other colors. A good 10000 mile buy on this one, should last a lifetime and more. Very nice. R100/7 here, I bought new and at over 300K now, they go forever:). They turn into family heirlooms, as mine sure is:). Randy13233:brow

I like the color! But I gotta say, whoever at BMW called it "blue" must have had a hangover from the Beatles' "Strawberry Fields."

IMHO, the color is pretty close to fuchsia. [Respectful grin.] Takes a really hard-core rider to ride *that* bike into a rally parking lot! Right on!!

I wonder how many were made?? Here's the one I ordered in 92'. I was riding around the Dinky Dozen Rally in Pontiac, IL..
I couldn't keep tires on the back for longer than 2000 miles so I traded it off for a 92' R100RS.
