    Question Installing rubber knee pads on gas tank

    Is there any specific trick to putting the rubber pads on an old /2 tank?

    I'm wondering if I should use tire lube;

    Or start with the large end or the small end.

    Anyone care to share a tip or two?

    Put them in HOT water first, it should be easy then (while they're hot)

    I agree about the hot water, or, leave them out in the sun for a good while.

    I usually start with the pointy (ish) end and then work my way up both sides. Take your time and just work it carefully.
