Early morning fishing trip with the wife a couple of years ago. I think maybe the first time we fished alone without the kids in years. I look forward to more trips like this. :love That could explain why I was a hair late with the sunrise photo opportunity.

I don't know about rocketman, but I was there when mine were taken... :D

From my experience.. sunrise skies are darker. The day lights faster in the morning, than it darkens in the afternoon. I'm in San Francisco and that's how it is in my neighborhood.

Unless there are clouds, sunrises are very short, but sometimes the preglows are fantastic (similarly the afternoon afterglows can be great). I prefer morning light, it seems to leave softer shadows.

The last sunrise I posted was in Daytona over the ocean in light rain. If you look closely you can see dark spots of rain on my lens (I was lazy and didn't clone out). The one before that (preglow) was over the Salton Sea in Socal.

You are absolutely right however, it is difficult to tell sunrise from sunsets.
